Punkrock taught me it's cool to be an underdog, not following the mainstream; even I've been one of < 10% of female STEM students in Japan, very rare Japanese who pursue a Ph.D. degree in the States.
Watching DVDs (there was no YouTube back then...) inspired me to do something that enables me to live anywhere in the world. That "something" turned to be science!
My unconventional family situation made me believe in the power of mentoring and education.
I appreciate the invitation from a PSE alum!
